Happy New Year from Homeland Farm

   Another year well under way and I have decided it is time to get blogging! It has been a busy year all ready and we have added to our animal friends.
    We are currently up to 11 horses, three alpacas, three goats, laying hens, bantams, peacocks, a cow and calf, a pot bellied pig, and two..wait.. four rabbits! Quite the varied assortment. My daughter Brogan (or as she is also know Ellie May Clampett ) runs her own rescue, Animal Rescue Unit....THUS the large variety of critters. Plus, she has 2 dogs and two cats and we have 2 dogs and four cats, and lo and behold, a stray (drop off?) appeared today at the end of our property. Of course, the little Dachshund was welcomed into the house.

  Brogan comes from a long line of animal lovers. My grandmother Althea was a great lover of all animals, as is my mother Betty. So, it was only natural that Brogan turn into an animal advocate.

So you can see we have always been a family of animal lovers, so it is no surprise that Brogan grew up to be an animal advocate. Here are a few more farm animal photos for you.

A REAL HOUSE WIFE OF BRIDGTON MAINE     I don't usually watch much television, but lately have found myself flipping through the channels for a couple hours before bed. Granny Nightgowns..NOT just for sleeping.

Baking (and sampling) can also be done in a granny..      I love my granny nightgowns. I am sure there are lots of people that do. Mine are a lot more then nightwear however. They serve several purposes for me. They are casual wear, lounge wear, even business wear. They are mostly plaid, and when they are all clean and stacked up on my shelf where I keep them, they look like a "Gathering of the Clans" in Scotland. I do have a few flowered models, as well . I also have a wide variety to choose from. I have some that are floor length, mid calf, and some knee length. All, very sexy.       I can usually be found in a granny nightie from 7pm until 10-11 am, and perhaps on a Sunday, all day. I think I inherited my love of flannel from my Aunt Dorothea. She could often be found running the vacuum around in the afternoon, still granny clad. I know I didn't inherit it from my mother, who, A) doesn't wear granny nighties, and B) cringes every time she hears of someone new

The Blessing

          This is a very different blog today, as I share something that happened to me this past Sunday. It is something I still am trying to wrap my mind around, so please bear with me as I try to find just the right words. It was amazing, moving, wonderful, and awe inspiring all at the same time, and to be honest, I am still in the process of understanding it. Here is my best description, as I recall it.   Early morning cleaning and mowing..My grandparents stone in the back corner            Sunday was a warm, partly sunny day, and drier then it has been, so I decided to mow the lawns. My mother's mower was in the shop, so I decided to start in the family cemetery..Homeland Cemetery, located in the back of our hay field. I rode over on the mower, and started mowing, saying hello to all the relatives that are buried there.
