Doing the HOMELAND SHAKE

       In case you haven't heard of it, the "Harlem Shake" is a dance craze floating around on the internet where costume wearing people boogie around like they have lost their minds. Which is why I knew we Homeland Farm folks had to try our hand at making a video ourselves.
       In the video, one person starts dancing while the others surrounding them act normal and go about their business, until they all join in and dance together. Naturally, I opted to be the one that starts the madness, and of course, since my "granny night gown" blog is so popular on here, that is what I decided to wear. I really bust a move, so be prepared. Just think what I could have done, if it weren't for my bad ankle!

A REAL HOUSE WIFE OF BRIDGTON MAINE     I don't usually watch much television, but lately have found myself flipping through the channels for a couple hours before bed. I can not say I am a fan of any of the "Real Housewives of BLANK", but have seen enough of a few of them to know one thing...Their lives are not very real. Granny Nightgowns..NOT just for sleeping.

Baking (and sampling) can also be done in a granny..      I love my granny nightgowns. I am sure there are lots of people that do. Mine are a lot more then nightwear however. They serve several purposes for me. They are casual wear, lounge wear, even business wear. They are mostly plaid, and when they are all clean and stacked up on my shelf where I keep them, they look like a "Gathering of the Clans" in Scotland. I do have a few flowered models, as well . I also have a wide variety to choose from. I have some that are floor length, mid calf, and some knee length. All, very sexy.       I can usually be found in a granny nightie from 7pm until 10-11 am, and perhaps on a Sunday, all day. I think I inherited my love of flannel from my Aunt Dorothea. She could often be found running the vacuum around in the afternoon, still granny clad. I know I didn't inherit it from my mother, who, A) doesn't wear granny nighties, and B) cringes every time she hears of someone new

The Blessing

          This is a very different blog today, as I share something that happened to me this past Sunday. It is something I still am trying to wrap my mind around, so please bear with me as I try to find just the right words. It was amazing, moving, wonderful, and awe inspiring all at the same time, and to be honest, I am still in the process of understanding it. Here is my best description, as I recall it.   Early morning cleaning and mowing..My grandparents stone in the back corner            Sunday was a warm, partly sunny day, and drier then it has been, so I decided to mow the lawns. My mother's mower was in the shop, so I decided to start in the family cemetery..Homeland Cemetery, located in the back of our hay field. I rode over on the mower, and started mowing, saying hello to all the relatives that are buried there.
